Excellent condition original dual manual monster synth. S/N 284. Resided in the present owner’s home studio since 2002. It has proven to be pretty reliable over the years, only occasionally requiring very basic servicing such as the odd logic chip or op amp chip replacement. And at least one CEM chip has been replaced during that time - nothing too serious. It is running very sweet, sounding fantastic and looking almost mint.
The keyboard bushings were replaced in the mid-2000s, also the back-up battery. The unit does not have a MIDI interface installed (the present owner preferred authenticity over modern-day mods) The auction includes the original manual, original flight case, a diagnostic ROM set (which contains the factory presets data), and two micro-cassettes for the sequencer drive (for collector value only, it is not recommended that the cassettes be used). The sequencer is fun to use and easy to sync to an external trigger. The synth has five keyboard modes including ‘alternate’ where it ping-pongs between the upper and lower sounds, fun when using the sequencer.
More than just two Prophet 5s in one box, the 10 has extra goodies like extended modulation, additional equalization, balanced outputs, keyboard transposition, as well as keyboard mode options, and neat voice indicator LEDs. A true heavyweight analog vintage synth with an awesome heavyweight sound. Highly collectable (about 600 made in the early eighties), and really, nothing else like it.
This and all the other Sequential items in this section were featured in the definitive book ‘The Prophet from Silicon Valley – the Complete Story of Sequential Circuits’ by David Abernethy.
They all come from David’s personal studio, and have been carefully shipped over from New Zealand to VEMIA on a shock-protected pallet, so that further shipping costs are reasonable.
Total weight, including flight case, 70kg. Flight case measures 118x87x35cm (including wheels). Packing / palletising at VEMIA 100GBP.
