Overview
Offered for sale is a pair of original Klangfilm RZ 086 B tube equalizers, widely regarded by engineers and collectors as among the finest valve equalizers ever produced.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a pair in this condition, featuring carefully chosen audiophile upgrades that fully respect the originality of these historic units. The level of investment and preparation represented here is not normally found on the market.
These units originate from the golden era of German audio engineering, the same period that produced legendary equipment such as the V72 and V76 preamplifiers and Telefunken microphones including the U67 and U87. They reflect a design philosophy focused on depth, musicality, and three-dimensional sound reproduction that remains highly sought after today.
This is the highly desirable B version, particularly valued for its Presence Filter section, the defining feature of the model and significantly more sought after than the earlier A version.
Condition and Restoration
These equalizers have been carefully restored and thoughtfully upgraded to an audiophile standard while fully preserving the original Klangfilm sonic character.
Several thousand euros have been invested in restoration work, premium components, and professional rack integration. This level of refinement is rarely found in any other available pair of RZ 086 units.

At this level, these equalizers are suitable for the highest-end recording applications on any instrument, as well as mixing and mastering. They deliver depth, presence, and musical coherence that very few classic valve equalizers from Siemens, TAB, EMI, or comparable manufacturers can achieve.
In particular, the high-frequency response of the RZ 086 B Presence Filter is widely regarded as more refined and elegant than that of classic Pultec equalizers. It offers a smooth, silky top end with remarkable brilliance and openness, without ever sounding aggressive. This is one of the defining sonic strengths of the model.
All improvements enhance performance while remaining fully respectful of the original circuit integrity and tonal signature.
Power Supply
The original Klangfilm power supply is included and professionally integrated inside the rack. It has been carefully mounted and isolated to prevent hum or interference.
