Not your usual auction lot: Peter and Jo Forrest are selling the auction we've spent 30 years developing and running.
***NOTE THE REVISED TERMS BELOW***
This auction will follow the normal rules, including 10% buyer's premium with two exceptions:
The auction will not necessarily be sold to the highest bidder. We will decide, if there are multiple bidders, who we think is best placed to continue its tradition and enhance its reputation - and will make them the preferred bidder.
We will notify the preferred bidder on or before April 18.
***The preferred bidder and VEMIA Ltd will jointly agree and sign a Memorandum of Understanding on or before May 1.***
Once the MoU is signed, VEMIA Ltd will give the buyer access to the info necessary to start planning for the takeover - including discussions with spheremusic if they wish to continue that link - which has been invaluable to us over 25 years.
The actual sale of the business will take place on August 19.
We have sent people who have expressed an interest some background info. If you are seriously interested, and have not received this info, please email pforrest@vemia.co.uk and ask for it.
Financial data will be sent to all serious applicants as soon as possible.
A draft MoU will also be sent to all serious applicants.
Several people have expressed a wish to have shares in the future VEMIA, some of them substantial shares. This would be a wonderful idea but is beyond our organisational skills. It could be something a future owner could think about working on.
We need to finish our time running the auction because of ill health and advancing age. But overall it's been great fun, and we've met (in real life and online) hundreds of great people, many of whom we now count as friends.
We've also had great support from techs like Lucid, James Walker, Dani Wilson, James Willis and others, drivers Ian, Antony and Jamie, and warehouse and packing supremos Mike and Jono. THANKS!
