Fairlight cmi |
| Model |
Fairlight CMI, n/w, vgc, + extras!! |
| Description |
A complete Fairlight, not tested because of a power supply problem - only the monitor and the keyboard spring to life - but coming from Synton, Benelux distributors, and thus loaded with disks, manuals, service documentation, leads, etc., etc.. See below for extras included!
With original flightcases in good condition, and seemingly in **very very good** cosmetic and likely functional condition throughout except that as usual the plug on the monitor that attaches the lightpen is half-broken. (The design of the monitor and its flightcase is such that this is almost bound to happen to every example.)
***A new photo will show everything I can.***
If you need more information about this rare instrument, please email pforrest@vemia.co.uk, and I'll do what I can to help.
Like many other things in this auction, this is from the collection amassed by Felix Visser, former head of Synton. All items were destined for a national technology museum project, many years in the making, but finally cancelled by politicians and planners.
They have mostly been stored unused for a number of years.
Because it was a last-minute decision to enter them into VEMIA, they are often being sold as-is. Any items marked untested are untested, and could be fine or could need work. Wherever we have more information (good or bad news) it is mentioned in the item description.
Extra manuals: service manual Sep 82 rev 1.1; word processor, film music processor, two user manuals v3.10 (Oct 83 and Apr 84), Page R, MCL reference, schematics, field change notices, Stavewriter, disk library lists, General Interface Card, Series IIx manual supplement (Feb 85).
Extra circuit boards: CMI 01 rev 8, Q-025 16K RAM, Q045 rev 3, 2x Q096 rev 5, QFC2 rev 3, Q032 rev 3b.
Loads of sounds data masters (for series III ?), and loads of promotional or instructional media in every conceivable format - VHS, U-matic, reel-to-reel video, audio cassette.... plus another box of disks.
Plus a spare wheel / controller section (for series III?), unused!
Disks include: V3 IIx system disks rev 18, 19, 20, Series III System version 5.2 (Jun 87) & OS9 Utilities version 1.1, V4 C5/18 MIDI x2, Locust I etc, diagnostic disks, QDOS 5.07, MCL example disk, Stavewriter System 1.3, Formatting Series II, Cyword System Disk, Film Music Processor 5.22, Key Disk sequence 13, Film Music Processor v 7.12, Cymail, Cywork, RT11 etc., 26 original sound disks, and maybe 30 blank disks.
All sold as is, but with every belief it will be an excellent machine once serviced.
