 Make Roland
 Model RE-501 Chorus Echo
Description A very nice looking Roland RE-501 Chorus Echo, with balanced inputs, a great chorus, and reverb working well. It makes any synth sound funky and powerful. One bizarre thing:- if it's left to stand for a time, the tape often sticks the first time it's switched on, and has to be eased into movement. There are occasional speed glitches during use, too, as though it hits a bad bit of tape. Everything was checked that we could think of - the motor, the pads, and of course the tape - but there seems no clear reason why this should happen. It isn't every time, either - just to be more difficult to diagnose. Be aware that it might happen to you; it is still a superb machine for adding warmth, life, thickness, and a touch of grunge. Cosmetically it has some dings on the corners of the case, and is missing the instructions on the lid; but the lid is there (just not in the photo) and the front panel is excellent.
