Tektronix 526 Vectorscope |
| Description |
TEKTRONIX MODEL 526 VECTORSCOPE
Bandwidth - 5 MHz
From the earliest days of B&W TV, it was clear that the medium eventually was destined to blossom in full color. In fact, various color broadcast and reception
schemes had been proposed while B&W was still in its infancy, and a brisk competition for FCC approval arose. Color television didn't have much impact until more than a decade later. Then a significant number of households were watching TV in color. The demand for new TV production and broadcast equipment picked up as the industry raced to re-tool for color.
Among this color production and broadcast equipment was, inevitably, a new type of television signal measurement instrument from Tektronix: the vectorscope. The new Type 526 Vectorscope
displayed Lissajou figures, a means of plotting two signals (in this case the Red and Blue difference components) against each other. This is in contrast to the normal oscilloscope display, which plots a all components of the input signal against a fixed internal sweep waveform.
The resulting image is a classic polar (2-dimensional circular) graph that expresses the phase and
amplitude of burst and chrominance signals. Here again, inherited scope technology was the
foundation of the architecture, even though the display was not the typical X-Y plot of an oscilloscope. Like its predecessors, the Type 526 helped the TV industry attend to the essentials of signal quality even while the measurement challenges became more complex.
The Tektronix 526 graphically displays the phase and amplitude of TV chrominance signals on polar
coordinates in a vector presentation. Also, measures luminance amplitude, differential gain and
differential phase.
Features of this model:
Vectorscope Luminance
Amplitude
Chrominance Amplitude
and Phase Differential
Phase Differential Gain
Vector display shows the relative phase and amplitude of the chrominance signal on polar
Dual Vector Displays In dual-channel operation, successive samples of channels A and B are
displayed on a time-shared basis.
Time Base Displays - The linear time base operates at the line rate.
Red (R), Green (G), Blue (B), and Luminance (Y) - Provides a luminance channel that permits
the separation and display of the luminance (Y) component from the composite color signal.
Vertical Interval Test Signal Observation - You can display vertical Interval Test Signals from
front-panel selected lines of either field 1 or 2.
Differential Gain and Differential Phase Measurements - The two main chrominance signal distortions - differential gain and differential phase - can be measured.
Tektronix 526 Vectorscope, Has 'A' and 'B' Inputs....
This Model of Tektronix Vectorscope Is the Industry Standard for TV Transmitters and Used to Ajust a
Standard TBC, ask your engineer. He Will Know. This is a $3000 Work Horse. Does Many Functions.
This is an Excellent value for a Excellent Working Vectorscope......As You Can see from the Picture
The 526 Also Can Measure Y / R / B /I and Q Like a Waveform Monitor....
