Super-rare classic Yamaha polysynth - the most impressive, playable and desirable of 20th century synths after the CS-80. Beautiful weighted 73-note wooden keyboard with massively long levers - see the internal photo. Velocity and poly aftertouch, of course. 32-voice polyphony. There was a great retro review by Gordon Reid twenty years ago: https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/yamaha-dx1-its-successors-retrozone . The original price of 3,500,000 yen is something over 30 000GBP in today's money. We didn't take a photo with it switched on because the mains socket is broken and will be replaced before the auction finishes. (A shame, because the displays are fantastic - looking beautiful and making the FM almost easy to sound-design with.) **Photos of displays now included in photo of back.** It is to be sold in 100% working order. Cosmetically, it is basically nice, solid and correct but needs some minor cleaning and three or four little bits of veneer to be replaced. There is some marking on the back edge. 110V, so you'll need a transformer if you aren't in a US mains region. Packing 30GBP. Its flightcase is the next lot, so palletising the whole thing would be the best option. We won't trust a courier with this massively heavy synth-and-flightcase combo. |
