OB-8 (not Obie-8) racked Oberheim |
| Description |
Although the Oberheim OB-8 was one of the handful of synths that Studio Electronics did rackmount adaptations of, we have never seen one in this livery, or named OB-8 not Obie-8. The blue pin-stripe Oberheim livery (just sides, top and bottom of the front panel) looks incredibly smart. We wonder if this was their original plan, but someone with the rights to Oberheim objected. That would make this an early one. Or maybe it was a late one, when the chance of anyone complaining had subsided. Without a serial number there is no way of telling. Either way, you will be very hard-pushed to find another one like this anywhere in the world. The other difference from the usual Obie-8 looks like the use of metal toggle switches for two switches bottom left. In very nice cosmetic condition, and fully serviced - the LEDs flicker but that seems to be a design fault. Sounds and plays great. Switchable voltage. Packing 8GBP to include a UK or Euro lead. |
