 Make Korg
Model PS-3300,MIDI, RDJ says it has to go
Description ANYONE EAGLE-EYED ENOUGH TO SPOT THIS PRICE REDUCTION ? This lovely Korg PS-3300 has been owned by Richard D James (Aphex Twin) for many years. He had Kenton MIDI installed, and sold the 3010 keyboard in VEMIA in 2008. Over the years many of the edge connectors became brittle (a classic problem with PS synths). He had 43 of them replaced. But it seems that the remaining ones that were OK before have now become brittle, causing various problems. They will need replacing. Not a difficult task, but definitely a time-consumng one. There are some other issues which will need attention during this servicing. A thorough examination showed these faults:- Overall: Many scratchy pots & tarnished contacts, sockets and slide switch retaining screws. PSU-3301 #1: A# needs calibrating, G# EG not sustaining. PSU-3301 #2: C & G dividers n/w, top G# & top D EG release too short. PSU-3301 #3 no sound (probably an edge connector issue). A thorough electronic renovation by a good tech (including replacing all the remaining original edge connectors) would cost an estimated 2000GBP. Cosmetically the cabinet is in good general condition except for a nasty gouge in the top edge. The back has duct tape residue and a peeling logo. The panels on very very close inspection have some tiny chipping around screw holes, but the overall condition and look is beautiful, as you can see in the photos. VEMIA should be able to collect and deliver by hand in our usual areas, or pack and palletise for safe shipping worldwide. Richard will sign a provenance certificate for the winning bidder, who will also receive a signed copy of the small photo of him in front of his (currently) three 3300s.
