 Make Sennheiser
Model VSM-201 Vocoder, ex Kraftwerk +MIDI
Description **PLUS 21% VAT on the bid if you are in the European Community - see below for more notes.** Kraftwerk's original VSM 201 vocoder, it is one of the 3 vocoders they used on their albums Man Machine and Computerworld. Only 12 were made of which 7 are known today. (one German site states there were 50 made but this is heavily disputed by connnoiseurs). This copy was modified by a Telefunken engineer that incidentally worked for Kraftwerk so it could be controlled by an external Telefunken 16 band midi to cv/gate unit. This unit is a 1 in the world unit and was made for live purposes, it is still working and comes with the vocoder. All paperwork / some schematics etc also come with it, and the original VLM wooden case. The 'new' price at the time the VLM-201 was released was 10 grand in GBP Though the (internal) power supply is old and generates a 50 Herz hum I never changed it in an effort to keep it in an as original state as possible. I normally kill the hum by turning the potentiometer of the 50 hz-band down. this frequency doesnt really effect the sound when vocoding cause as you probably know it is not a part of the frequency-reach of the human voice. You can see and hear the unit here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-Jq7BHtQMA I am a lecturer at the Utrecht University of the Arts, music-technology department, so the VSM 201 has been treated correctly. [VEMIA note on VAT: There are three possible tax situations:- 1. If you are outside the European Community you pay no VAT (but you will need to pay import duties/taxes). 2. If you are in the EC and provide a valid VAT / TVA number you pay no VAT via the auction. 3. If you are in the EC and have no VAT / TVA number, you will pay 21% on your bid, and not on the premium. The seller will issue a VAT receipt directly to you. Our automated invoice software assumes a VAT rate of 20%, so we will need to alter that in the final invoice.
