Very rare in Europe, or at least in Britain - this is amazingly the first SX-240 that has physically come through our hands in the auction.
It is fully intact apart from one missing slider top, and functional apart from the fact that the owner thought it needed an internal battery replacement. He said 'This does not affect regular functionality but it prevents loading the factory sounds and stuff like that. At the moment there are maybe seven or eight programs loaded.'
But after using it for a time, and keeping it switched on, it seems to be able to save other programs - the ones that nLi programmed in last week are still fine.
It sounds great (once you get rid of the very Japanese vibrato on some of the programs) and has a lot of features that are quite unusual on a vintage analogue poly: MIDI, sequencer clock in and out, a real-time sequencer, and the ability to use the keyboard to name patches.
Very much a quirky and non-mainstream instrument, but seemingly very well made. The keyboard is a bit clacky, and a few notes were a bit unreliable when we started playing, but got OK after a few minutes.
Cosmetically it's pretty nice for its age.
